Self Study 2: Bones, Rigging & Animation

For personal reasons I missed many of the devlog entries up until week 5 - but I'm still going to to them and post them in order to keep up to date even if its not worth any marks.

First, I started creating my character using one of the tutorials provided in MyLO, a channel called Imphenzia:

I changed it up a bit - here's "purple" or "tourist".

The tutorial includes the creation of a hat, but to keep things simple I created the "hat" object as part of Purple, and decided to make it hair instead.

The rigging, which of course came from the subsequent video...

...went relatively simply. I followed the tutorial and experience no errors or mishaps, though it did take some thinking to figure out why I was doing anything I was doing.

Pictured above, me dragging purple around.

After the rigging was complete, I went through the 3rd step using another Imphenzia video (his very high quality tutorials helped me get this done pretty quickly), and started animating.

Pictured above, Purple's idle animation.

.

And finally, Purple waves!

No problems in the animations at first glance - if there are, I suspect they would come into play when Purple is imported into Unity...
